Editorial standards

These are the working rules of the desk. They are short on purpose: a reader should be able to check whether we followed them.

Sources and corrections

Claims that can be checked are linked to the primary source: a regulator, a standards body, a company statement or the documentation itself. When we get something wrong we correct the article, say what changed and leave the correction visible at the foot of the piece.

Money

We do not publish paid reviews, sponsored rankings or affiliate links in our own articles, and no advertiser sees a piece before publication. Historic pages on this domain that carry outbound links from a previous owner are marked as such and are not part of our editorial coverage.

Images

Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited under each picture with the author and the licence. We do not use generated imagery to illustrate reporting.

Gambling coverage

Articles in the gambling section explain mechanics and consumer rights. They carry no bonus figures, no operator recommendations and no links to betting sites, and they name the help lines available in the country the article is about.
